What’s wrong with anti-imperialism?

A proper anti-imperialist is critical of ALL countries with imperial ambitions.

There’s one Indian Quoran in particular who has about 15 million answer views a month and his entire spiel is sucking up to China, how wonderful and perfect it is, how amazing it. He’s also very much pro-Russia, when Russia is a classical imperialist country in almost every definition you can think of. There are many such authors, here. Many of the young commenters will say America is “bullying” Cuba or North Korea with sanctions but say nothing of China bullying neighboring countries in the South China sea…

Nothing, when done right.

I’m wondering about attachment and transference with the therapist and the idea of escape and fantasy? How much do you think your strong feelings, constant thoughts, desires to be with your therapist are a way to escape from your present life? I wonder if the transference serves another purpose than to show us our wounds and/or past experiences, but is a present coping strategy for managing what we don’t want to face (even if unconsciously) in the present—-current relationships, life circumstances, etc. Can anyone relate to this concept of escape in relation to their therapy relationship? How does this play out for you?

Anti-imperialism is great when you call out ALL bad actors equally. America bad? Sure. But China bad, too. Russia bad. Iran bad. Be fair, be reasonable and analyze your own blind spots. Otherwise you’re not much of an anti-imperialist — you’re merely a willing propaganda mouthpiece for the other side.

The problem I have is with the hypocrisy. Right here on Quora there are a ton of self-described anti-imperialists that absolutely despise America for being “imperialist” but continue to fellate Russia and China as these beacons of virtue.
